Stanford’s Co-Design for Health and Technology (CHAT) workshop brought together 80+ students, engineers, clinicians, and individuals with lived experiences on April 18, 2026 to co-design assistive technology solutions in a single day. Supported by Stanford’s Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance and the NIH-funded FAIR Center, teams tackled real-world challenges faced by 12 individuals with lived experiences, including stroke recovery and prosthesis use.

From smart rowing gloves to prosthetic adaptations, teams built working prototypes alongside the people who would actually use them, allowing the team to discover nuanced challenges and design more targeted solutions.
